Jason cleared his throat.
“Silvia dear…er…Silvia, my one true love…my dear Silvia….argh!”
Jason clutched his head and groaned.
There was a snicker from the old man one table away.
Jason reddened.
He was sitting near the window waiting for Silvia and was determined that today he’d ask her to marry him.
Not a very confident man, he wanted it to be perfect. He’d chosen the cafe where they’d first met. But what if she said no?
He shook his head vigorously in an attempt to dispel any negative thoughts. No…she loved him, he knew she did…but what if…?
He saw Silvia walk up. She paused by the window and waved. At that moment the sun emerged from behind the grey clouds and the first sliver of sunlight shone through, the rays illuminating her face.
Jason smiled at the woman he loved unconditionally and pressed his hand against the glass. She smiled back and did the same, and suddenly Jason found himself mouthing the words: Will you marry me?
Her eyes widened and she mouthed back, yes.
“She said yes, now stop gawking, go out there and get down on one knee!”
The old man’s voice made Jason jump to his feet and he raced outside!
