Letting go, rising above, being the first to apologize….Gloria’s thoughts arrested at the last one, as she sat cross legged on the mat.
The serene voice on her iPod continued and she quickly inhaled, eyes closed, trying to focus, but it was no use, she felt her rage rising.
No way would she be the first to apologize to Mark, he should be the one to say sorry. But fat chance Mr. Egotistical would ever do so.
Still furious, she heard the voice recite some quotes from Buddha. You will not be punished for your anger, you will be punished by your anger. Gloria groaned and raised her hands in defeat.
That night, she glanced across at Mark. They’d barely spoken a word since he’d come home. Gloria gritted her teeth, it was now or never.
“I’m sorry Mark, I shouldn’t have overreacted like that.”
Surprised, Mark looked up. “You feeling alright?”
“Oh for heaven’s sake, I’m trying to apologize!” she retorted.
Mark leaned over and embraced her in his strong arms.
“I’m sorry too babe, I know I can be a real jerk sometimes.”
“Try big jerk,” she snuggled into his arms.
Mark grinned and kissed her forehead. “Whatever you say sweetheart!”
