TLT: Betrayal

three line tales week 36 service

Thank you for your service, the oft repeated line which Jeremy heard for all fathers who had joined to serve, except his.

“Mummy, I thought daddy had also gone to fight the bad guys?”

Lips quivering, she wondered how to tell little Jeremy that the man who’d gone a hero had returned a villain andย at first she thought of hiding the truth, but fearing he’d find out soon enough, she whispered, “I’m sorry sweetheart, but daddy is the bad guy.”

Good for Jeremy’s mother for making the difficult decision to tell him the truth. It’s much better for him to hear it from her than from somewhere else. Great story!

Sometimes, even our heroes are corrupted. Tough tale. Thanks for sharing.
