Word-High July: Harana

july 13

In the hospital she lay gently still
He sat beside her with a smile
Strumming his worn out guitar
To serenade her awhile

Sweetest Marigold, I saw you from afar
Alas, too hesitant and shy, I never strayed nearby
To whisper words of adoration, dear
Your starlit eyes they beautify

Flowers bloomed the path you walked
Sunshine followed too
Birds they sang sweet tunes around
The sky above you blue

Her eyes they fluttered slowly wide
Six months she’d stayed asleep
Awakened by my beseeching cry
My heart now hers to keep

For Word-High July
