FFfAW: Perfection

Patch and Rocky growled at each other and Timmy sighed.

“Must you two act like humans and fight all the time?”

“What else should we do? Wait endlessly to be adopted?”  Patch  hobbled around on his three legs.

“Yeah, no human will ever want us, we’re damaged goods,” Rocky rested his half charred face on his furless paws.

“Don’t give up boys, you just need to be patient,” Timmy wagged his bushy tail.

“Easy for you to say, Mr. Perfect,” snapped Patch and Timmy gave him a hurtful look .

“Daddy look!”

A curly haired girl rushed forward.

Patch and Rock immediately looked away.

“Hey guys, she’s pointing at you two!” Timmy barked excitedly.

A bewildered Patch and Rocky turned around to face the little girl.

“They’re perfect daddy!” she squealed

Daddy smiled down at Suzy.

“Guys look!” Timmy pointed with his nose.

That’s when the surprised dogs saw that Suzy’s father had one prosthetic leg and his arm was ugly burnt out flesh.

To little Suzy,  Patch and Rocky were as perfect as her Daddy.

  2. Ahh, this is so sweet! I love how it ended. There’s a home for everyone, even those with 3 legs and burn scars. Wonderful story!

This story reminds me so much of my rescue dogs and the possible conversation between them. I cried. Thank you for the best story. I am finding it hard to participate in this weeks challenge as I just lost my fur baby recently but this story of yours gives a voice to the imperfections that are loved without prejudice. Awesome story telling.
