Ever since he’d witnessed World War III, Alex had firmly given up on humanity. Their leaders had given lofty speeches on ‘freedom’ but in the end, all that mattered was now gone.
Mutilated bodies and hysterical survivors dotted the globe, while leaders solemnly declared mission accomplished. He spat at their faces, at their supercilious indifference.
Then, after years, he’d finally done it, his time machine was complete. Now he’d go back to the past and make sure these horrors never occur.
The machine whirred and darkness enveloped him and he came to an abrupt halt.
Gingerly alighting between thick trees, the ground rumbled and he gasped in a mix of terror and shock. Dinosaurs!
Figuring out the settings he was ready to try again, then suddenly reconsidered. Why bother? It’s not like his plan would work out as expected and there’d be Utopia on Earth?
So Alex decided to stay where he was. He wasn’t sure how long he’d survive, but anything was better than going back to the time ruled by humans.
Oooh clever! You do wonder where the world leaders are leading us at times! KL ❤
Unfortunately so! Thanks for reading! 🙂
This man has such bitter thoughts and no faith in humanity at all. Kind of sad he chose to stay with the dinosaurs. He won’t last long, but I suppose he figures with humanity as it is he won’t last either. Great take S.
That’s true, he has lost all hope and thinks all his efforts will be pointless as well. Though one should always try! Thank you! 🙂
Well, it’s one way to get away from it all
Haha! Sure is! 😀 Thanks for reading!
Great story telling! I can imagine him being the only human alongside the dinosaurs. Who knows, maybe he will start to rule them? LOL! Great story!
Haha! He just might! Let’s hope he finds a way to stay alive! 🙂 Thank you! 🙂
Hahaha! That would be a good idea – stay alive. LOL!
Humanity is totally overrated anyways, right? Go dinosaurs! Enjoyed it!
Haha! That’s so true! Thank you! Glad you liked it! 🙂
Can he take the leaders of the free world there and dump them off? We could all use a fresh start. Besides the dinosaurs wouldn’t have gone exist if they was more ffod
Oh yes! Brilliant idea! That would be the ideal place to dump them! 😀 Bigger feast for the dinos! 🙂
It’s a start to Utopia here
HA! Ha! I would imagine consuming humanity would make the dinosaurs extremely ill! 🙂
Hahaha! Good point! 😄😄
oh. this is both clever, deep and sad. because it is true that we cannot actually easily determine which is more evil, humans or dinosaurs.
nice take! 😀
Ahem, humans have my vote!😀
haha. i think… mine will be for… humans too! 😀
I think he’ll be far safer in a land ruled by dinosaurs than in one ruled by humans. At least all he has to worry about there are creatures wanting to eat him – no political machinations! Great story. 🙂
You’re so right! It’ll be easier to worry about being eaten, as compared to the political melting pot of lies, bombs and power! Thank you! 🙂
Sometimes, I think like this man. Whenever I read news about crimes, wars, or environmental issues, I lose a bit of faith in humanity. But then again, life is beautiful if we really try our hardest. Give life a chance. Reflective story, S! 🙂
I think most of us think like this at certain times. Torn between the ruthlessness of man and hope/faith. Thank you! ☺
I can’t say I totally disagree with him. And I love how you fit “Mission Accomplished” into the story. That is really a telling example of the foolishness of our world leaders, isn’t it? I’m not sure I’d want to live in the time of the dinosaurs. Pretty rough back then, but at least he answers to no one but himself. Nice story.
I think the news mentioned a similar ‘Mission Accomplished’ scene a while back!😆 ..Yup, now to choose between scary dinos or foolhardy leaders! .. Thank you! ☺
I hope he doesn’t get gobbled up in the process, though sometimes I think animals might just be a better bet 😉
So do I! 😊 Thanks for reading! ☺
