Sunday Photo Fiction: An Early Christmas

Suzy was ecstatic, the Christmas parade was just as she imagined. Songs, marching bands and colourful costumes. Even grumpy old Mr.Woodrow had dressed up as Santa! Elves waved to her and she waved back.

“Hey Suzy, catch!”

‘Rudolph’ gently threw a red rose in the direction of her wheelchair and she raised her little hands to catch it, bursting into peels of laughter at the sight of the mailman, Mr. Jerry, dressed in a furry brown coat, with hurriedly stuck on antlers and a tennis ball for a nose.

Suzy’s mother had tears in her eyes, happy as well as sad. The family had been so relieved when the doctor said that Suzy was in remission and all Suzy had done was talk nonstop about the Christmas parade she’d finally be able to attend. But she suddenly took a turn for the worse and the doctor told them she might not make it till the end of the year.

It had been her son, Tom’s idea to make his seven year old sister’s wish come true and the entire town helped. Suzy got her Christmas parade in October, but it was the best Christmas parade this town had ever had!

Aww… Beautiful, sad story. Her brother and the rest of their neighbors must be in tears during that parade. Tears of joy and sadness.

  5. That brought tears to eyes. I would love to see a town do this for someone. Although in a way I wouldn’t because it would mean there was a child with not long left. Great story.

  6. Awww, such a wonderful story but so sad. It is wonderful that the town came together to throw her a Christmas parade. This is a tear jerker!

  7. A beautiful sad story. Coming together to support and brighten up a loved one’s face is a heartwarming thing.
